Like just think for a second of how "big" your area you live at is and how many people you see that live there. And try to now think of all the cities, states, and countries there are out in the world that you haven't seen at all before. It's INSANE to realize that! For example, in regards of relationships, how could anyone just settle down so quickly when there is a whole world of women and men out there to meet and yet for the average person it is IMPOSSIBLE to see all the people out there and be able to find that certain special someone. I mean I had heard there was all kinds of beautiful women in several different countries like Brazil, Italy, Sweden, Japan, etc... and there is NO way that in my lifetime I could ever see who's out there. It's just not right.

So there's this girl that really means the world to me. We met, became fast friends, and she invited me to her church which I attend every Sunday. We sit next to each other and she is my sponsor in my faith and always corrects me if I slip up, like if I swear lol.

I wrote her a poem about how she's an Angel. It's written in Italian quatrain style (cause she LOVES Italy) and the last line is a paraphrase from Song of Songs 2:2 "A lily among thorns." I want to write it down, and glue all these lily petals around it and mail it to her. Is that a good idea? Will it melt her heart??

**The only thing is, I don't know if she likes me yet. Do you think this would "scare her off?" I've written poetry for her before and she says she loves it. Or, another time I was gonna put a rose on her car after church, but she wasn't there, so I told her and she was like "aww, you should've gotten me another rose!" which I did, and she wrote me a thank you letter.

My parents, Cathy and Derrik have been happily married for tewnty-one years. My mother and father got married in 1954 and since then they have been living together. I envy their happiness and their successful relationship. Although they seem to have a lot in common, they are pretty opposites. Their uniqes aspects make-up who they are. It is surprising that a couple like my parents, with different characteristics but who complement each other have such a successful marriage.

My parents came from two completly different backgrounds. My mother was born in Italy and moved to Ohio when she was seven. Where as my father was born and raised in Ohio. My mother was born into a Buddhist family while my father was born into a Jahovah Witness family. Two extremely different religious affiliations. My mother was raised with two brothers and two sisters and had to comstantly share her belongings; my father was an only child and did not share his things with anyone. Different backgrounds brought together one happy couple.

My parent's physical appearence are very oppoistie. My mother, Cathy has brown hair, green eyes, and is only 5'5". While my father, Derrik has black hair, brown eyes, and is 6'11". They both have light brown skin though and wide shaped eyes. When people see, my parents together they notice many of their different appearances.

My mother and father have different personalities. My mother is very relaxed and easy going;my father is hyper and needs to be busy every moment of the day. While my mother spends her money shopping in malls, my father spends his money buying golf clubs and playing golf. Whenever i get into trouble i rather be yelled at by, my mother who would just tell me right from wrong where as my father feels the need to ground me. Although this does not happen too often. All in all their personalities make who they are as a person.

Overall, appearence, personalities, and their different background make who they are today. My mother and father have their differences but, like everyone says, "Opposites attract."

It's really nice, but I think you should put like a paragraph describing the troubles they have, I mean, every couple must have a fight, maybe they had it once, you can write that sometimes it gets stupid and other times it's simply a misunderstanding with examples. Hi everybody,

as you can probably tell it's my first time asking a question on here. But I've been serious considering moving to Italy for a year; and through my research and the many calls I've made to the consulate I've discovered that it's a long process.

I'm a Canadian citizen and I know that I can potentially get a work permit for up to 6 months. But I'm pursuing one for the entire year...

nothing fancy. Coffee shop/restaurant... anything. I just want to be in Italy. I'd appreciate ANY advice/help that I could get... :)

Since your a non EU citizen you have to get an offer of a job first. An employer would have to advertise the job in all 27 EU countries before employing someone from outside the EU. Too much red tape and paper work. The employer would then have to prove to a department that he/she has advertise the job in all EU countries to get him or her a visa.

My boyfriend is getting stationed from the Air Force to be in Italy and asked if I would go with him. Would I be able to go and live off base until we are married? He wants to get permission to live off base there to live with me so i'm not alone. Would they allow him to do that if we are out of country?

You can visit Italy for up to 90 days without a visa. To stay up to 6 month you will need a tourist visa. For that you will have to provide a return ticket, proof of monetary funds ($100/day) for the length of your visit, proof of employment in the US, and lodging accomodations for the duration of your stay. You will not be allowed to work or sign rental agreements for a house or apartment. You will not be allowed to drive his car, if he has one. If he were to sign you onto the base for a visit you are very limited as to what you would have access to. You would have to find private lodging, as you cannot stay on base. Overseas, only those with military IDs can stay in base lodging.

For him... he will be living in the dorms on base, unless he is at least a SrA. Rentals are hard to come by in the area around Aviano, and they like to keep the singles on base.

If you were to marry he would have to get new orders, and you would have to get command sponsorship and get an Italian visa, for extended stays. Once you were given command sponsorship and have your visa, then you would be able to join him, but not until then.

You can certainly go over for a visit, but do not plan on anything over 2 weeks. You will be sitting bored in a hotel room while he is at work and the cost of living in Euope is quite high.

I like to plan as much as I can, so I don't get faced with issues like this. If I don't know where I'm going to go next in terms of plot advancement, I freak out. Planning is always useful ^-^

I also like to write scene-by-scene, rather than writing random scenes and then piecing them together when I'm done. I feel like that way, the plot can take a more natural course, rather than adhering strictly to the course I loosely intended for it. I love it when the plot takes on a direction of its own.

How stupid would it be if I packed up my bags and moved to Italy without going to college?

I've thought about it since I was in middle school and as soon as I turned 18 I started making the arrangements. I have a Visa, a job at a hotel in Rome that requires me to start working the beginning of July, and I'm working out the arrangements with my future roommate.

I only have $9000 in my college fund, and I'm inclined to take that money to use it so I can get to Italy. With that being said, if I do use that money to move, I plan on returning every last cent to my parents.

I know that I might just be the most inconsiderate person on the planet and the worst daughter ever for not even telling my parents, but everything was going so ridiculously smooth that I wouldn't have been able to take it if they stopped me from doing something that I have been dreaming of for the last eight years. I can't even begin to explain how much moving to Italy means to me.

How stupid would I be to forget about college and just move to Italy? I do really want honest opinions.

Stupid is not the right word here--- Following your dreams is not stupid. However, you have a lot to think about first.

Before you make such a drastic move as moving to Italy, why not go to Italy for 3 months- you'd be considered a tourist. just travel around and explore. See what it is like and whether or not if you are going to like it.

The life style is very different than it is in America. I have known many people who have had the same dreams as you and have gone to Italy or another foreign country and have returned because they missed their family, friends, and the life style was just to different from what they were accustomed to.

Education is very important . As one of the posters said , get at least your BA degree here in the USA What do you want to do in life? To get any well paying job anywhere in the world , you need an education.

Have a sit down with your parents and explain to them what you would like to do. Be honest with them. Do not just go and not tell them. Maybe you can all agree on things together. Always have a plan B if Plan A falls through. Moving to a foreign country is not easy.

There are many things you have to do. There are rules and laws you need to check into.

Have that sit down with your parents and be honest about your desires. However, be open to what they have to say as well.

The way Latin developed into its modern descendants depends very much on the linguistic "substratum", i.e. what language the inhabitants of each region were speaking when they they conquered. Im recently talking to this guy and we have been in the process of getting to know one another.He recently went on vacation to italy for a month and said he hoped i have a great summer and he mananged to keep in contact with me while he was there.He has asked me lots of questions such as whats my major? my hobbies? how many classes im taking this summer? etc. We met a few times at church and he wanted to hang out during this summer but i been busy with summer school and work that it was not possible. The name is "Damaturco". I have already found a naturalization record, an obituary, death records, WWI records, and veterans' gravesites for the name, all from the USA, all from late 1800s to about mid 1900s. But I'm trying to find the origin. The family came from around Salerno, Italy. Family lore says it's a made-up name meaning "Lady of the Turk" - i.e., it was given as a surname to the illegitimate son of a Turkish man's mistress. Plausible? Any way I can verify this? Was there any reason for a Turkish man to be in Salerno in the 19th century? Thanks for any leads. Reminder: I am NOT looking for US records like census, naturalization cards, gravesites. I'm looking for the origin of the name.

Although "Damaturco" doesn't really sound familiar as an Italian surname, there are quite a few Italian family names with the word "turco" in it. Italian states had a tradition of trade with the Ottoman Empire dating back from the 15th century, so it was not uncommon for people of the trade who spoke the language or went over there frequently to be called "Del Turco", "Gianturco", "Turchetti" or also simply "Turco" or "Turchi".

However, there is also the family name "Carraturo" which could be mistaken for "Damaturco" when handwritten, and that is a typical Italian family name very common in the Salerno area. Could it be that some official at Ellis Island just made a mistake when your ancestor's original Italian name was transcribed into the American records?

A search on the ellisisland.org database came up with two persons named "Amaturco", who immigrated to the US in 1903 from the town of Campochiaro. Could it be that somebody added a "d" to their family name?

Italy is an amazing place, very TOUGH to see in only 7 days.

You will probably fly in and out of the same city, and I don't know if you are renting a car or not, so your question is REALLY VAGUE

Have you ever been? If so then you might have to adjust my suggestions, for the purpose of this I will assume you haven't been.

If I only had 7 days I would probably spend most of it in Rome. There is so much to see and do, and trips by train to other places are pretty reasonable in terms of price and time.

If you are looking for a slower pace than the city, there are some places outside of Genoa and Naples that are peaceful and will give you the more traditional side of Italy.

I know its cliche but Cinque Terre is AMAZING, out of the way of Rome, and pretty much everything else, but that's what makes it so neat.

I would stay in Rome, take a couple of day trips to Pisa, Florence, Naples, and Pompeii and enjoy the city.

Did you consider Edinburgh? It has the biggest party in Europe on New Year's Eve - Hogmanay is a massive celebration in Scotland in general and especially in Edinburgh. In that respect it is far better than London with regards to events & celebrations

We went some years ago now with a big group of friends and it was the best new year's eve I've had to date. There are so many different people that migrate to there for New year's celebrations..... the only problem is that it may already be a bit late to book accomodation if you have a big group of friends, but I would give it a try.

Basically the fastest route is to take the A14 from Bari to around Canosa di Puglia, shortly after that you'll see the exit to get on A16 towards Naples. Both roads are toll-roads. The whole trip takes about 3 hours plus any pit stops.

You can calculate how much the toll roads will cost by going on http://www.autostrade.it/en/index.html and using their "plan your journey" tool. I tried but the service isn't available right now so can't offer you an indication of how much it will cost.

You can also take the train if you want, most trains require a chance in Caserta. Total travel time around 4 hours, depending on the train connections. You can view schedules here: http://www.trenitalia.com/

By taking the road through Brianza you lengthen the trip but I am sure it will be worth it.

Aside from the infamous Reggio-Calabria road (A3) which you'll be taking a bit after your stop in Brianza, most roads are safe and in good conditions.

Obviously the decision to not follow the bigger main route from Brindisi up to Bari and then on Naples along the coast, which is mostly flat, will take you into the Apennine range. On Google Maps the main routes are in orange, the regional ones in yellow. You see you're still mostly traveling on main roads so I wouldn't worry about their condition or not finding facilities.

Both routes are scenic in different ways, one going along the sea and the other goes into the mountains.

I haven't personally been in this area of Italy so I can't say how winding the roads are but here in Tuscany, the roads up the Apennines do contain a lot of curves. The regional roads are normal width and in good condition. As long as the weather doesn't cause particular problems, you shouldn't find the roads difficult -- unless you're not used to driving uphill/downhill at all?

Most cars are stick shift so you do have to factor curves, gears and elevation into the equation.

If you are traveling alone and you don't mind being dependent on other persons you could try to find locals that drive between cities in these countries. They will surely give you plenty of advice. check on www.eurostop.be. 7 countries in 2 months is a lot to do, unless if you plan your trip carefully and you stay somewhere on the border so you can visit two or three countries in a week:

Why can't the U. S. soccer team get some respect?

In my posts about the U.S.-Mexico game I made some comments about the country of Mexico itself which I regret. I apologize for them.

But people have said that the Mexican players didn't shake hands because they felt disrespected... that's all the American team wants, too!

You see, the truth is, the American soccer program isn't bad at all... certainly nowhere near the top, like Italy/Germany/Brazil/England/Argentina, etc... but they're not BAD! The U.S. team is probably in the middle of the pack in terms of talent. Yet most soccer fans outside America try to paint this picture of the American team being THE WORST in the world! American players just want respect, just as the Mexican players did.

2 points soccer fans outside of America must consider:

1.) The American soccer program HAS gotten better over time, especially recently.

2.) With such a large talent pool (300 million people here) America will get better and better, and in 10 or so years will have a VERY good team!

They are not respected yet. To gain respect in a sport you have to beat quality teams multiple times. Even after their tie with italy (italy scored both goals), italy said it did not play it's best game. That right there is a sign that they do not respect the Americans.

We have made strong moves in soccer. Part of my belief of our inability to move forward is the way we coach and play at this level. The talent is there, but the coaching has been just poor.

Our last world cup 70% of the roster were 33-36 year old players. Leaving off key players that made no sense. All the hopes riding on a small sometimes good player? We have such a strong talent pool. We have players that are young, but we need to play them.

Did we actually think we could have placed in the 2006 cup? Why not bring along your top young players and get them experience so in 4 years they can be better.

look at brazil, probably the best country the last 20 years. 16-18 year olds play. There is too much of a power struggle in American soccer. Someone is itching to put us on the map.

Well we are just a spec, we have to win and win somemore. Mexico is not the answer. Yes, we can beat them, but who else have we beaten?

I am a 22 year old living in Italy. I've been here for almost 5 years, I have dual citizenship...Italian-American. I've been working for an Import-Export company for the past 2 years in the Sales Office.

I would like to change this, in the sense I would like to find a new job. I'm looking for something that will allow me to travel (the job I am currently at doesn't).

What I'm really looking for is an American company or at least one that works with America who needs people to travel there. Even for months at a time. Honestly I don't know what kind of companies I need to be looking for that allow this or are looking for employees.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, from personal experience to word of mouth! Thank you!

Right now we are in the recession in the United States and in Canada and pretty much all over the world. The smartest thing you can do is to stay at your job for now until the recession is up. However, this is the perfect time to take some schooling. You can perhaps work as a sales manager for a boat cruise or the hotel industry. What about destination management? This field is awesome and fun but tough and a lot of work. With destination management you plan events for companies so they can team build or for incentive programs and execute it.

Check around in Italy what schooling there it with the travel industry. If you can put your desires into the schooling and wait for the recession to lift. Then when the recession is done you will be able to be on top with your schooling and sales experience too.

I live in Greece and i struggle ( like many other people here ) to find a job and i was thinking about living the country and go someplace else at least for a couple of years.

But i don't know where .

Lately i have visited some European countries , more specifically the UK , Italy and Spain and i have been 2 times in the USA but that was like 5 years ago .

I didn't really like Italy and Spain .They are very beautiful countries but the economy and the level of unemployment are not much different from Greece . UK was better compared to Spain and Italy but i have heard that the UK had some economic problems lately and i believe the presence of more emigrants will hurt the economy of the country even more so going there is not a smart move .

So i was thinking about France , Germany , Holland or USA . My problem is that the USA had a big crisis lately and i am not quite sure if they recovered from that and i have never been in France , Holland and Germany before .So if there is somebody out there that has been in these countries lately and have a good knowledge of their current economic condition please tell me what's the best move .

Try USA. Some states are still doing good. You can contact to Greek organizations in USA which would give you ideas how to get a job. You would also think about applying colleges as an initial step. I know many Turkish students are starting colleges and then getting job after graduation.

Amauri left Brazil early in his career before establishing himself better. And the national team just lost interest in him. Brazil already has too many world class strikers at their disposal.

There are no flights from Genoa to Prague. Your best bet is to fly from Milan-Malpensa to Prague with Easyjet.

You need to catch the bus from Genoa at 0600hrs which arrives at Milan-Malpensa at 0900hrs. The fare is 24€ & you can book on-line.

Russia is definitely not a member of the European Union, and it can be quite difficult to obtain a visa if you want to travel there.

If you really want to go, start researching how to obtain a Russian tourist visa.

I live in Italy, and pub crawls are better because you meet people.

But also the clubbing here is not as busy right now (summer is your best bet)

During this season I noticed alot of people stop going to the disco (discoteca)..

Just look for clubs online in Italy.

But your best bet is to go in a major city (obvious). Milano, Roma, Firenze.. Florence is full of students because of the university.. there is apparently wednesday night university night.. but university is pretty much finished so i dont know how well you'd do there lol..

Ok so your a twilight fan. You realize that Forks is a dying timber town in the middle of the olympic pennisula? There are maybe 3000 people who live there. There is really not much there. Its true the forest are very cool. However, you wont see Edward or Bella anywhere. The locals have thrown anything vampire together. Its all very cheesy.

As far as how to get there you will need to fly to Seattle and rent a car. The airport in forks is city owned and has no commercial service. Forks is about a 3 to 4 hour drive from Seatac Airport. There are are no main stream hotels/motels. I would personally stay at the nearby Lake Quinalt Lodge. Its a fabulous lodge in the middle of the woods on a lake. It has so much history and beauty.

I am not saying Dont go to Forks. Just realize its not all that. Most people who grow up in those timber towns cant wait to get out of those podunk towns.

I am from the US and traveled to the south of Spain last year with my wife an 2 children for about 7 weeks and really love the place. The history, weather, culture, beaches, etc...

Spain is a fractured country when you look at the various groups that remain after Franco (simplification) but this doesn't really play into what I suspect you call racism. These regional differences also exist in Italy (North and South) as they do in most of the world.

I have traveled to both countries and have had positive experiences with both cultures. When you travel to another country your experience will have much to do with what you pack in the head.

I suggest you travel to both countries yourself before you decide and be sure to do some homework regarding the multitude of factors that are involved in "living" in either country.

Deciding to "live" in Italy because someone told you the Spanish are racist would be as short sighted as picking Spain because of what I have said.

If my dog has a three year vaccine valid for 3 years.. and it is given another rabies vaccine today will the new one replace the previous one or will the previous one still be active? My dogs were vaccinated in the States with a 3 year vaccine valid until January 2012. Moved to Italy and need to go back to the States but Italy requires me to do the one year vaccine because a 3 year one is not valid in Italy. Now the states does not recognize as valid a vaccine given under 30 days so if the previous one is still valid I am fine, if not I risk my dog being quarantined. it sucks, Italy's bureaucracy is terrible...

I've heard this rumor all over the place and I'm still not sure if it's true. While it would explain a LOT, it might turn out to be one of those "Axel is Reno's Nobody" rumors where it makes sense but it's still false. (and please don't start a big comment fight over whether or not the Axel/Reno thing is true, Square Enix themselves have said that it's not) I mean, HRE and Germany DO look alike, sort of...same shade of hair, same eye color, same pale-ish skin...and the emotional connection to Italy...but can anyone tell me for sure if it's true or not?

It really depends where you stand on history.

Before I go into detail, let me explain a little background about the series. You see, the way the creator explained the world's history is a lot out of proportion and doesn't make everything seem exactly the way it is supposed to be. I'm not talking about the stereotype characters and stuff (though that is a little bit off XP) I'm talking about the actual facts about WW1&2.

Thing is, there really isn't a N. Italy and a S. Italy. the Roman Empire didn't just disappear, and Japan's battleship commercials.....well, that one's pretty self-explanatory. So basically what I'm trying to say is; the way he interpurted the history isn't the 'real deal, bottom line' thing. Keep in mind that it's a comic/show, not a history book. (though it is pretty factual ^^)

Anyways, technically, yes. Germany can be considered as the HRE. But if you were to look deep down into the history of the world, you would find that the HRE was taken over by Austria. He, however, decided he would go on to become some all high and mighty empire just as Grandpa Rome had. Italy (the little one) begged him not to because Italy foreshadowed that he would, just as Grandpa Rome, fail as an empire and become 'hurt and scarred'.

Even though Italy refused to become part of the HRE, the HRE did become powerful and tried to take over a bunch of places and, well, you know that deal. The HRE eventually fell apart, lost his memories as the HRE, and became to form what we now know as Germany.

However, there still is a lot of confusion of what had happened during the point from transitioning from the HRE to Germany. To put it down, bottom line:

"HRE was also a descendant of Germania and had Prussia as an older brother, while in the later-day strips it is revealed that Germany and Prussia are brothers. Though Germania is said to have several grandchildren, two others being the little-seen Saxony and Bavaria.

There used to be a senior fare here in Italy with one of the Cartavaiggio cards. Starting this year, all the different options were rolled into a single program so there is no longer a senior fare. This doesn't really matter in your case, since you have to be a resident of Italy to sign-up for Cartaviaggio.

I use the overnight trains between Italy and Paris sometimes. You can get a berth in a cuchette with four bunks for 60 euro if there are still spaces available at that price when you book. A berth in a 6 bed cuchette is 35 euro if you can find the Smart price. These go fast though. The normal price for a two bed compartment is 180 euro per person or 135 euro for a berth in a 4 bed or 130 for a berth in a 6 bed compartment. These are all one way prices.

Ryanair and Easy Jet both have budget flights from Paris to Rome that are a good deal compared to the full-fare on the train. The air fare will be more expensive than the discounted prices on the night trains though and you wouldn't get to Rome as early. On top of that there's the hassle of dealing with airports.

In Rome one of places you should go is to the Trevi Fountain, The Colosseum, Vatican City and much more. Be careful with some restaurants they charge just for walking in. Don't skip Florence. It's a very nice city full of cathedreals and shopping. The only thing I know about Pisa is the leading Tower.

Venice you need at least three days to be there. There is a lot of shopping, beautiful squares, good places to eat, and muesums too.

This might sound silly to ask, but I'm just speculating and curious what other people think...

My Plan A: Go to med school, become a surgeon, ect. Have one kid, maybe.

My Plan B: Move to Italy, fall in love with and marry an italian guy, buy a farmhouse, live on farmland in Italy happily and have like 30 kids. Just kidding, have like 4 or 5 kids.

My parents want Plan A. My friends want Plan B. 2. For a big trip I'd bring around $500- $600 dollars depending on what the Euro rate is during the month of March.

3. Technically there isn't one, but you know there is always regulations. You can't just go chugging down a whole bottle of wine when your walking down the street. Trust me I know. You do have to be 16 to get into bars or clubs.

4. Hmmm teenage girls like yourself in Italy would probably wear. In Southern Italy, usually dress skirts with short sleeve shirts or tanks tops and sometimes dresses because of the mild to hot weather. At least they did when I was growing up there, although I think there are some that wear long designer jeans now a days. In Northern Italy, expect anything from light navy jeans and long sleeve dress shirts to heavy coats and heavy denim jeans.

Not completely different I'd say. Also if your in Southern Italy or even places around Rome expect to see a lot of women in white tanktops. It's a cultural and religious sign that symbolizes the dove or messanger of God.

The best university in Europe, and 2nd in the World, is London Business School (Financial Times Ranking). This school offers 2 different kind of programmes, a MBA and a Master of Finance, but it's necessary 3 years relevant work experience.

The most important universities in order to get a MsC in finance and banking are:

1. London School of Economics

2. Cass Business School, City University, London

3. Tanaka Business School, Imperial College, London

Other excellent universities are Cambridge and Oxford, but there is a MPhil programme for finance and, after that, there is the possibility to enter to a Master in Finance, where propbably it is necessary 3 years of work experience (full-time), like a MBA (more info on Judge Business School, Cambridge).

All these universities I talk to u are very selective: normally entry requirements are a first or upper 2:1 honours degree, a level of TOEFL of minimum 100 (107 for Cass) or 6.5-7 for IELTS test, plus an excellent GMAT, and 2 motivation letters from your teacher and work-tutor.

Other good universities for finance are:

Aston Business School, European Business School (London), Reading University.

I am a single 48 year old woman vacationing Oct 3 - 23. I am thinking of Italy. Venice, Florence, Rome and the coast all appeal to me. I have heard that Positano and Sorrento are nice. I want relaxation but also fun. I don't want to be isolated in a small countryside B&B too far to enjoy a city. But I do want beautiful views of the countryside as well as the sea. And a B&B might be the perfect choice in some areas...or an apt. Please advise.

I long for adventure and romance so I need to be in a place where I might meet others close to my age...and single.

I would like to keep the total trip under $3000 US dollars but do not know if I can see all that I want and stay in nice places for this amount. I will be flying to and from Dubai. I am wondering if I should forgo Rome and just go to Venice, Florence and the coast?

I am italian single, I have 2 american girlfriends about your age the come to Italy every 2-3 years and they stay in my home about one month, I live center city of Perugia, I rent a room to tourists but in october we have the Eurochocolat show, 2 weeks long and everytype of chocolat is avalable to taste and buy, so my room is not available, ...so...let me say abou 3000$ you may stay 15 days, I am like you...I love the city, the shops, tha outdoor fair.....if you go to Rome be awhere of the italian gigolos , theyr only paychecks are generous american women, you may meet nice guys, but the largest is the city and the largest is the problem, let me tell you....best if you go to a small hotel near train station, and at the lobby you purchase a one day or two days tour to Capri, Sorrento, Amalfi, Pompei.....the cost is about 350.00 $ ( 250 euros)...here you have a tour guide and meals, at times you may have the opportunity to dance at the main square with local peoples but as you know with the opening of the schools the fiestas are gone in october, then if you go to Florence ( Firenze ) you may find a small Hotel near the old bridge, few B&B for around 100 - 130 euro with breackfast, Florence is a jewl of Tuscany, an english speacking city a lot to visit and easy to meet people because at night autdoor in Piazza repubblica you may find easy to talk with someone.....once in Florence you may take a bus to go to San Gimignano, also Siena is a city filled with history, if you want to go to PISA a train from train station Santa Maria Novella will take you direct to the city about 2 hours, if you want to go to the italian riviera is very very pretty but is a center for old peoples........because of the good weather old retired peoples go there and is beautiful but boring, Venezia is ok, very expensive, VICENZA, Verona the city of Juliet and Romeo is small but very elegant and charming men, I myself I find love in Verona 5 years ago, so...is up to you, however may I suggest to buy a tour guide and a map, pick the location and stay in the south ( Rome, Pompei, Ischia, Capri, Sorrento, Amalfi) because in North Italy in october rains a lot...a lot...in the south the wheather is better- good luck - enjoy -

First of all, get on the website of the Italian government about visas (listed as source). I was just in rome, spiletto, and naples... clothing isnt my strong point here but smart casual seems to fly... your gonna love it it is a beautiful place and the people are nice... many speak some english but you probly should know italian... as for the cities... it depends on which one your at... rome is bustling and always filled with people and pretty much everyone stays out late... if in rome, the spanish steps are a local hangout place... the food is good everywhere and its HOT in the summer and pretty cold in the winter...

I answered a question about weather, and I think, out of the two answers, mine was the best. But, whether I'm right, or wrong about that, I got 36 thumbs down (1 up) and the other guy got something like 29 up, 2 down. One is from me. It really surprises me, though, because of the nature of the question, too.

Anyway, many of the other questions have very large amounts of thumbs, and the differences are the same way, but some have 40, 50, 60 thumbs, or so. Switzerland is the same way, just smaller numbers (in the 20s, or so).

I also looked at Italy, France, and Spain. Their numbers are similar than ours...very few thumbs on most questions I saw. What's wrong with those Germans? (or the people going there) Isn't that weird, and mean?

It's not "those Germans", it's just a stupid troll who has created a large number of accounts during the last 2 years and gives all answers of other people lots of thumbs down. You can recognize his many accounts by the high numbers of thumbs up, which he always gives his own answers. He really must be bored with life. You shouldn't pay attention to him, looks like he has a serious problem. Most people who are aware of him avoid this section, anyway.

Edit: No Twiggy, you didn't offend me. I just wanted to make things clear, this guy is really annoying. Maybe he should finally start to find a new meaning in his life. ^^
